Bullenbung is a small rural area located in the central eastern part of the Riverina region in New South Wales, Australia. A "rural locality" is like a small community or district in the countryside. It often has farms and open spaces, rather than many houses close together like a town.
Where is Bullenbung?
Bullenbung is found in a part of Australia known for its farming and natural beauty. If you were travelling by road, it is about 19 kilometres (about 12 miles) north-east of a town called Lockhart. It is also about 21 kilometres (about 13 miles) south-east of Collingullie. The nearest major city is Wagga Wagga, which is about 48 kilometres away.
History of the Bullenbung Post Office
In the past, a post office was a very important place for a community. It was where people sent and received letters, and sometimes even where they collected their money or bought supplies. The Bullenbung Post Office first opened its doors on 1 November 1888. Interestingly, in old records, it was sometimes spelled as Bullenbong. This post office served the local community for many years. However, it eventually closed in 1903. Post offices often closed when populations changed, or when new roads and transport made it easier for people to get to larger towns.
