History of Bullhead Canyon
Bullhead Canyon has an interesting past. It was once known as Bull Heads Canyon.
A Place for Horses
Long ago, this canyon was used as a place to keep horses. It was located near a spot called Estación Romero, which was a station for people who moved livestock.
Horses were kept in a simple corral made of brush and poles within the canyon. From here, they would join larger groups of horses that were being moved south along a route known as La Vereda del Monte. These horses were often taken to places like Sonora for sale.
