Bunsen Is a Beast is an American animated TV show created by Butch Hartman for Nickelodeon. It's about a friendly monster named Bunsen. He's the first monster to go to a human middle school. Even though some people don't like monsters, Bunsen makes friends with a human boy, Mikey Munroe. Their friend Darcy, who learns at home, also joins them. They try to have a normal school life. But a girl named Amanda wants to get rid of all monsters. So, Bunsen and his friends often have to outsmart her!

The show started from a drawing by Butch Hartman in 2009. He first thought about making a picture book. But a Nickelodeon executive saw the drawing and told him to make it into a TV show. The series teaches us about how good it is when different groups of people get along. It also celebrates different cultures. Bunsen Is a Beast was the fourth and last show Hartman made for Nickelodeon. He also created The Fairly OddParents, Danny Phantom, and T.U.F.F. Puppy.

The first season had twenty-six episodes. Nickelodeon ordered the show in December 2015. The series was shown on two different channels. It aired on Nickelodeon from January 16 to November 20, 2017. Then it moved to Nicktoons from December 18, 2017, to February 9, 2018.

What is Bunsen Is a Beast About?

Bunsen Is a Beast is about a blue monster named Bunsen. He is the first beast to go to Muckledunk Middle School. His human friend, Mikey Munroe, helps him learn about human life. Bunsen wants to show everyone that monsters can live peacefully with humans.

Most episodes show Bunsen learning new human tasks. He also discovers human traditions. Mikey learns about the monster world too. He meets new creatures when he visits Bunsen's home.

However, a girl named Amanda Killman thinks Bunsen is dangerous. She wants to get rid of him and all monsters. Bunsen and Mikey must outsmart Amanda's plans. Sometimes, their friend Darcy helps them.

• Bunsen Beast (voiced by Jeremy Rowley) – Bunsen is a friendly monster. He becomes Mikey's friend. He's the first beast to go to a human school. He is light blue and white, with pinkish-red lips, arms, and legs. He is often smiling and is very fun-loving.
• Mikey Morris Munroe (voiced by Ben Giroux) – Mikey is Bunsen's best human friend. He helps Bunsen understand human life in Muckledunk. Mikey has orange hair.
• Amanda Killman (voiced by Kari Wahlgren) – Amanda is Bunsen's main enemy. She wears a red, white, and blue school uniform. She always tries to prove that monsters and humans can't live together. She speaks with a lisp and wears braces. Mikey often stops her plans, making him her enemy. But she secretly likes Mikey. She has blonde hair.
• Beverly (voiced by Kari Wahlgren) – Beverly is Amanda Killman's helper. She is a preschooler. She usually does whatever Amanda tells her to do. Sometimes, she is smarter than Amanda.

• Darcy (voiced by Cristina Milizia) – Darcy is a friend of Bunsen and Mikey. She is homeschooled and sometimes a bit quirky. She joins them on their adventures.
• Wolfie (voiced by Kevin Michael Richardson) – Wolfie is an anthropomorphic wolf. He is Bunsen's best monster friend. He is also Mikey's second best friend.
• Sophie Sanders (voiced by Kari Wahlgren) – Sophie is a popular girl in their class. She speaks with a "valley girl" accent. Mikey has a crush on her.
• Mr. Munroe (voiced by Jeremy Rowley) – Mikey's dad.
• Mrs. Munroe (voiced by Kari Wahlgren) – Mikey's mom.

Bunsen Is a Beast was first shown as a sneak peek at Comic-Con in 2016.

The series aired in Canada on YTV starting June 3, 2017. It premiered in Israel on June 4, 2017. In Australia and New Zealand, it started on Nickelodeon on June 5, 2017. The show premiered in Greece on July 15, 2017. It also aired on Nicktoons in the United Kingdom on September 4, 2017.

In France, the series first aired on Nickelodeon from September 25, 2017, to November 30, 2018. Reruns were shown on the free channel Gulli starting December 22, 2018.
