Byfield is found right inside the Byfield National Park. This park is in Central Queensland. It's about 717 kilometers (446 miles) north-west of Brisbane, which is Queensland's capital city. It's also 78 kilometers (48 miles) north of Rockhampton, a bigger town nearby.
Rivers and Creeks
Waterpark Creek flows along a big part of Byfield's north-eastern edge. Sandy Creek also helps form this boundary. Sandy Creek is a smaller stream that flows into Waterpark Creek.

The name "Byfield" might have come from an older name, "Fifefield." This name was shown on a map drawn in 1859 by a farmer named Colin Archer.
