Caapucú (called Ka'apuku in Guaraní) is a town in Paraguay. It is located in the Paraguarí Department. In 2002, about 7,249 people lived there. The town is about 141 kilometers (88 miles) away from Asunción, which is the capital city of Paraguay.
A main road, Route No. I, goes right through Caapucú. The town was started in 1787 by Pedro de Melo de Portugal. Before that, it was known as Capilla Tuvá. Caapucú is the largest district in its department. It is separated from the Misiones Department by the Tebicuary River. Many old houses from colonial times are still in the city. Some were built around the time Paraguay became independent. One house, called the Stevant house, looks like a castle. It is now a museum that shows items from that period.
