Black Caesar Rock is a small island located in Biscayne National Park in Florida. It's part of Miami-Dade County, Florida. This tiny island is famous for its interesting name, which comes from a legendary pirate!
Where is Black Caesar Rock?
This little island sits in the southern part of Biscayne Bay. It's found just north of Old Rhodes Key and Totten Key. You can also find it southeast of the southern tip of Elliott Key and south of Adams Key. Black Caesar Rock is right in the middle of Caesar Creek, a waterway that separates Elliott and Old Rhodes Keys.
The Story Behind the Name
Black Caesar Rock gets its name from a famous pirate known as Black Caesar. Long ago, people believed this small island was where the pirate lived and even built his ships. A writer named Munroe mentioned this in his 1930 book, "The Commodore's Story." He wrote that Caesar's Rock was thought to be the home and shipyard of the pirate. This small key is located north of Meig's Key.
