Calicut International Airport facts for kids
Calicut International Airport (IATA: CCJ, ICAO: VOCL) is an international airport located in Karipur, Malappuram district of Kerala, India. The airport opened on 13 April 1988.
The airport is an operating base for Air India Express and operates Hajj Pilgrimage services to Medina and Jeddah from Kerala.
It was the eleventh-busiest airport in India in terms of overall passenger traffic. It is the third-busiest airport in Kerala after Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.

An Air India Express Boeing 737-800 (registered VT-AXX) landing safely on the tabletop runway in 2015. It is similar to the accident aircraft (registered VT-AXH) that was destroyed in 2020.
