Jet Airways was a big airline from India. It started flying in 1993. At one point, it had more than 90 airplanes! It was once the second largest airline in India, right after Air India. Jet Airways was known for connecting many cities in India and also flying to other countries around the world.

What is an Airline?

An airline is a company that provides air transport services for people or cargo. Think of it like a bus company, but for flying! Airlines own or lease airplanes to carry passengers and their luggage from one airport to another. They also hire pilots, flight attendants, and many other people to make sure flights are safe and on time.

Jet Airways' Journey

Jet Airways began its journey in 1993. It quickly grew to become one of India's most important airlines. It offered flights to many places inside India, like Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai. It also flew to big cities around the world, such as London, Dubai, and Singapore. This made it easy for people to travel for holidays, business, or to visit family.

Types of Airplanes Jet Airways Used

Jet Airways used different types of airplanes for its flights. For shorter flights within India, they often used Boeing 737 planes. These are popular for their efficiency. For longer flights to other countries, they used bigger planes like the Boeing 777 and Airbus A330. These larger planes have more space and can fly much further without stopping.

Why Jet Airways Stopped Flying

Sadly, Jet Airways faced some big financial problems. Because of these difficulties, the airline had to stop flying in April 2019. This was a sad day for many people who worked for the airline and for passengers who loved flying with them. It shows how challenging it can be to run a large airline business.
