Calion is a small city in Union County, Arkansas, United States. It is known as a "second-class city." In 2010, the population was 494 people. By 2020, it had 429 residents.

History of Calion
Calion grew into a town because of the Ouachita River Lock and Dam. This important structure was finished in 1916 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
The town officially became a city in 1921. Its name, Calion, is a mix of two county names. It takes the first three letters from Calhoun County and the last three letters from Union County.
Geography and Location
Calion is located in Arkansas. The United States Census Bureau says the city covers about 1.3 square miles (3.38 square kilometers).
Most of this area, about 1.0 square mile (2.78 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.3 square miles (0.60 square kilometers), is water. This means a good part of Calion is covered by water.
