Cameron's History and Culture
The city of Cameron is named after Samuel Cameron, who was a railroad worker.
Cameron has a special historical swimming pool. It is designed like a beach and is one of only a few like it in the entire country. This pool is called the Cameron City Pool-PWA Project 1196.
In the early 1900s, Cameron was a strong supporter of the Socialist Party of America. This political party focused on workers' rights and public ownership.
The downtown area of Cameron is a historic district. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998. This means it has important historical buildings. The Spencer Cemetery was also added to the list in 2012.
