Camillus is a small village located in Onondaga County, New York. It is part of the larger town of Camillus. In 2020, about 1,222 people lived here. The village is west of Syracuse and is part of the Syracuse metropolitan area. Camillus was once home to the well-known Camillus Cutlery Company.

History of Camillus Village
Early Settlement and Important Events
The village of Camillus was one of the first places settled in this area. People started living here around 1790. This land was part of what was called the Central New York Military Tract.
In 1852, a group of people in the village held a protest. They were speaking out against a law that many felt was unfair.
Two important buildings in Camillus are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. These are the First Baptist Church of Camillus and the Camillus Union Free School. These buildings are recognized for their historical importance.
The Camillus Cutlery Company Fire
The Camillus Cutlery Company was a famous business in the village. Sadly, on February 11, 2013, the company's building caught fire. The fire was caused by a spark from a cutting torch. Luckily, no one was hurt in the fire.

Camillus is located in New York State. It is southwest of Onondaga Lake. You can find it east of New York State Route 5 and New York State Route 174.
The village is quite small. It covers about 0.4 square miles (1.0 square kilometer) of land. There is no water area within the village limits.
Nine Mile Creek
A stream called Nine Mile Creek flows near the village. This creek was very important in the past. It provided water for the famous Erie Canal. The Erie Canal was a waterway that helped transport goods across New York State.
