Camoapa is a city and a municipality in the Boaco department of Nicaragua. It is located about 114 kilometers (71 miles) from Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua.
Camoapa was founded on August 23, 1858. It officially became a city on March 2, 1926. The municipality of Camoapa covers an area of 1,483 square kilometers (573 square miles). It is located about 540 meters (1,772 feet) above sea level.
In 2022, about 39,973 people lived in Camoapa. Most of the people (56.6%) live in the countryside, while 43.4% live in the city area.
Camoapa is very important for raising cattle in Nicaragua. The main ways people make a living here are through agriculture (farming) and the cattle industry. This includes raising cattle, trading them, and making dairy products like milk and cheese. People also make cool things by hand, like leather crafts and special hand-woven hats called "sombreros de pita."
