Wiltz is a special area, like a county, in northwestern Luxembourg. Its main town is also called Wiltz. This area covers about 264.55 square kilometers. As of 2018, about 16,735 people live here.

Towns and Villages in Wiltz
The Wiltz Canton is made up of seven smaller towns and villages. These are called communes in Luxembourg.
How Towns Have Changed
Over the years, some smaller towns in Wiltz Canton have joined together. This helps them work together more easily and manage things better.
Towns Joining Together
- On January 1, 1979, the towns of Harlange and Mecher combined. They formed a new, larger town called Lac de la Haute-Sûre.
- On January 1, 2006, the towns of Kautenbach and Wilwerwiltz joined. They created the new town of Kiischpelt.
- On January 1, 2012, Heiderscheid and Neunhausen became part of the town of Esch-sur-Sûre.
- On January 1, 2015, the town of Eschweiler became part of the larger town of Wiltz.
