History of Cardiff
Cardiff got its name from a famous coal-mining city in Cardiff, Wales. This was because there were many coal mines in the area around Cardiff, Alberta.
In 1922, the coal mines in Cardiff had some worker disagreements. These events were important for the community's history.
Cardiff was a busy place for shipping goods in 1912. It had its biggest year on record for trade. About 12,500,000 tons of goods were moved. Over 2,000,000 tons were brought in, and 10,400,000 tons were sent out. This shows how important trade was to Cardiff back then.
