Cares facts for kids
The Cares River is a beautiful river in Northern Spain. It flows through two areas called Asturias and León. Eventually, it joins another river, the Deva River, and together they flow into the Atlantic Ocean at the Bay of Biscay. The Cares River also helps form a natural border between Asturias and Cantabria at a place called the Tina Mayor estuary.

A River Through Mountains
The Cares River is very famous for the amazing canyon it has carved. This canyon is found in the Picos de Europa mountains. It's a very narrow and impressive natural wonder.
The Famous Cares Trail
Along the river, there is a popular walking path called the "Ruta del Cares". This trail lets people hike through the stunning canyon. It's a favorite spot for many adventurers.
Home to Special Salmon
The Cares River is also well-known for its excellent salmon. The salmon here are considered to be of very high quality.
Fun on the River
The Cares River eventually meets up with the Deva River. During the summer, a fun activity here is kayaking. Many companies offer kayaks for rent, so people can paddle down both rivers and enjoy the beautiful scenery from the water.
