Carey Alexander Davis (born March 27, 1981) is an American sportscaster and former professional football player. He played as a fullback in the National Football League (NFL). A fullback is a player who blocks for the running back or sometimes carries the ball himself.
Davis played college football for the Illinois Fighting Illini. He joined the NFL in 2004 with the Indianapolis Colts. He also played for the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Washington Redskins. He won a championship with the Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII.

Carey Davis played college football at the University of Illinois. He played in 42 games for the Illinois Fighting Illini. He was good at both catching and running the ball.
During his college career, he caught the ball 114 times for 751 yards. He also ran the ball 216 times for 1,012 yards. He earned a degree in Leisure Studies/Sports Management in May 2003.
Professional Football Journey
Starting with the Colts
The Indianapolis Colts signed Carey Davis on April 30, 2004. He was a rookie free agent, meaning he wasn't chosen in the NFL draft. He was on the Colts' main team for a short time.
After that, he joined other teams like the Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Miami Dolphins. However, he did not play in any games for these teams.
Time with the Pittsburgh Steelers

Carey Davis signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers on January 3, 2007. He became the starting fullback for the 2007 season. He took over from Dan Kreider.
Davis and Kreider shared the starting role for a while. But then Kreider got injured. After that, Davis was the main starting fullback. He played in all 16 games that season. He also led the team in special team tackles with 17. Special teams are the units that play during kickoffs and punts.
In 2008, his playing time went down. The Steelers' offense started to pass the ball more often. Another player, Sean McHugh, took over as the starting fullback. Davis was released by the Steelers in September 2009 but then re-signed later that month.
Playing for the Washington Redskins
The Washington Redskins signed Davis on August 22, 2010. He was brought in to replace an injured player. However, he was released by the team on September 4, 2010.
Life After Football
Broadcasting Career
After his playing career, Carey Davis became a sportscaster. He is a sideline reporter for Illinois Fighting Illini football games. This means he reports from the side of the field during games.
He is also a frequent guest host on 101 ESPN Radio in his hometown of St. Louis. In September 2022, he became a permanent co-host. He joined Randy Karraker on the morning show called The Opening Drive. In 2024, he moved to co-host another 101 ESPN show. This show is called The Fast Lane. His co-hosts are Anthony Stalter and former NHL player Jamie Rivers.
Coaching Role
Since 2018, Carey Davis has been a football coach. He is the head football coach at Hazelwood Central High School. This is the same high school he attended.
