Carla Gugino (born August 29, 1971) is an American actress. She is well-known for her many roles in movies and TV shows. You might recognize her as Ingrid Cortez from the popular Spy Kids movies. She has also appeared in action films like San Andreas and superhero movies such as Watchmen. Carla Gugino has also starred in several spooky TV miniseries, including The Haunting of Hill House and The Fall of the House of Usher.

Early Life and Beginnings

Carla Gugino was born in Sarasota, Florida. Her dad was an orthodontist, and her mom was described as "Bohemian." When she was two, her parents separated. After that, Carla spent her childhood traveling between her dad's home in Sarasota and her mom's home in Paradise, California.

She once said that she felt like she lived "two childhoods" because of this. She lived in a tepee and a van with her mom, and then in a nice house with a pool and tennis court with her dad, even traveling to Europe in the summers. When she was a teenager, Carla worked as a fashion model. Her aunt, Carol Merrill, who was famous from the TV show Let's Make a Deal, suggested she try acting classes. Carla eventually became independent and was legally allowed to make her own decisions by the time she was 16.

Carla's Acting Journey

Carla Gugino started her acting career in the late 1980s and early 1990s with appearances on many popular TV shows. These included Saved by the Bell, Who's the Boss?, ALF, and The Wonder Years. She also had a regular role on the show Falcon Crest. In movies, she appeared in Troop Beverly Hills (1989) and the comedy Son in Law (1993). She even appeared in the music video for Bon Jovi's song "Always" in 1994.

In the same year, she also appeared with Jet Li in the action movie The One.

Carla Gugino continued to take on many different roles. She starred in the crime drama Karen Sisco in 2003 and the science fiction series Threshold in 2005.
