In 2016, Carla Marie Williams was nominated for two Grammy Awards. This was for her work on Beyoncé's hit album, Lemonade. She also started an organization called Girls I Rate.

Carla Marie Williams' Early Life

Carla Marie Williams grew up in Wealdstone, which is in Harrow, London, England. When she was just 10 years old, she started a girl group called the Likkle Mentions. They sang in local competitions and even appeared on local radio shows.

Carla Marie went to Bentley Wood High School in Harrow. This was an all-girls school. After finishing school, she worked as a youth mentor for four years. She helped young musicians and songwriters find their way.

Her Music Career

Carla Marie Williams started writing songs full-time in 2006. She had lost her voice due to muscle tension, so she focused on writing instead of singing. She was signed by Brian Higgins to a company called Xenomania.

While at Xenomania, Carla Marie wrote songs for many popular groups. These included Girls Aloud, the Saturdays, Kylie Minogue and Alesha Dixon. She even co-wrote the famous song "The Promise" for Girls Aloud. For this song, she won a special award called a BRIT Award.

After leaving Xenomania, Carla Marie Williams started her own group of writers. It is called New Crowd Media.

In 2024, Carla Marie Williams received a special honor. She was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). This award is given for great service to music.
