Carlo Costly is the son of famous footballer Anthony Costly. Even though he is Honduran, Carlo spent a lot of his childhood in Mexico. He moved to Mexico City when he was 14 years old. He lived there for 11 years and started his football career.

He played for the reserve teams of several Mexican clubs. These included Atlético Celaya, Monarcas Morelia, Atlas, and Pumas UNAM.

Starting Strong in Honduras

Carlo returned to Honduras, where his journey to international success began. He joined Club Deportivo Platense. With them, he became the top scorer in the Honduras Apertura 2006–07 season. He scored ten goals in 19 games.

Playing in Europe

His great start in Honduras led him to Europe. He joined the Polish club GKS Bełchatów on a loan. He played so well that the club decided to buy him permanently. They paid a record €500,000 for him.

Later, Carlo moved to England. In January 2009, he joined Birmingham City on loan. This team played in the second-highest league in English football. He made his first appearance for them in February 2009.

After his time in England, Carlo moved to Romania. He signed a contract with SC Vaslui in January 2010. He later played for Atlas in Mexico again.

In 2011, Carlo played for Houston Dynamo in the Major League Soccer in the United States. He then moved to Greece to play for Veria F.C. in 2012.

In 2013, Carlo joined Guizhou Zhicheng in China. He made a big impact right away. In his very first game, he scored two goals!

Back to Honduras and Turkey

Carlo returned to Honduras in 2014, signing with Real España. After the 2014 FIFA World Cup, he decided to retire from playing for his country's national team.

He then joined Gaziantepspor in Turkey for the 2014–15 season. This was his first club after leaving the national team.

World Cup Appearances
