Carlos Amadeu Nascimento Lemos (born 6 September 1965 – died 15 November 2020), known simply as Carlos Amadeu, was a Brazilian footballer and later a football manager. He played as a left back. Carlos Amadeu was born in Salvador, Bahia, a city in Brazil.
He was well-known for his long career in football. He started as a player and then became a successful coach, especially with young players.

Playing Career
Carlos Amadeu began his football journey in 1983. He joined the youth team of Bahia, a famous club in Brazil. He played there for two years as a young player.
In 1984, he moved up to the senior team at Bahia. He played as a professional for Bahia until 1989. During this time, in 1987, he also spent some time playing on loan for another club called Galícia.
Coaching Career
Carlos Amadeu became a football manager after his playing days. He spent many years coaching young players. He helped them develop their skills.
Youth Team Coaching
He started coaching youth teams in 1992. His first coaching job was with the Under-17 team at Vitória. He coached them until 1994. In 1995, he moved up to coach Vitória's Under-20 team.
Later, he coached youth teams at his former club, Bahia. From 2000 to 2002, he coached Bahia's Under-17 team. Then, from 2003 to 2005, he coached their Under-20 team.
Senior Club Roles
Carlos Amadeu also took on roles with senior club teams. From 2005 to 2008, he worked as an assistant manager for Bahia. He also stepped in as an interim (temporary) manager for Bahia several times in 2005.
He returned to Vitória in 2009. He coached their Under-20 team until 2014. In 2014, he was an interim manager for Vitória's senior team. He then became an assistant manager for Vitória from 2014 to 2016. He also had another interim manager role there in 2015.
National Youth Teams
One of his most important roles was coaching Brazil's national youth teams. From 2015 to 2017, he was the manager for the Brazil Under-17 team. He then coached the Brazil Under-20 team from 2018 to 2019.
Later Career
In 2019, he became the manager for Vitória's senior team again. In 2020, he returned to coach Bahia's Under-20 team. His last coaching job was with the Under-19 team of Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia in 2020.
Death
Carlos Amadeu passed away on 15 November 2020. He was in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the time. He died at the age of 55 after having a heart attack.
