She also worked with Michael Kors for ten years. In 2000, Vogue magazine called her and Gisele Bündchen the top supermodels of their time.
Besides modeling, Carmen Kass was also involved in politics. She ran for the European Parliament in 2004. From 2004 to 2011, she was the president of the Estonian Chess Federation.

Carmen Kass was born in Tallinn, Estonia. She grew up in a small village called Mäo. This village is near Paide in Järva County. Carmen, her older sister Victoria, and her older brother Kutty were raised by their mother, Koidu Põder. Her father, Viktor Kass, was a chess teacher.

Becoming a Model
When Carmen Kass was 14, a model scout found her. This happened in a supermarket in Milan, Italy. Her first try at modeling was not very successful. She left Milan after a short time.
Later, at age 18, Kass moved to Paris, France. There, her modeling career really took off. She appeared on the covers of many famous magazines. These included Vogue in America, France, and Italy. She also appeared on Elle and Numéro. Her first Vogue cover was for French Vogue in November 1997.
By 1999, Carmen Kass was a top model. She walked the runway for many famous designers. Some of these were Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, and Calvin Klein. She also appeared in ads for brands like Chanel, Gucci, and Versace. She was also a spokesperson for Revlon cosmetics and Christian Dior perfume. In 2007, she worked on ten different fashion campaigns. From 2007 onwards, she became the face of Max Factor makeup.
Carmen Kass was a favorite model for Michael Kors. She was the face of his brand for 10 years. She has also been the spokesperson for the Narciso Rodriguez For Her perfume for 17 years.
