Carmen Kass (born September 14, 1978) is a famous model and actress from Estonia. She became well-known for working with many top fashion brands, including Chanel, Gucci, and Christian Dior. For ten years in a row, she was the main model for Michael Kors.
In 2000, the American Vogue magazine called her and Gisele Bündchen the two biggest supermodels of their time. A supermodel is a model who is very famous and earns a lot of money.
Besides modeling, Carmen has also been involved in politics and is a skilled chess player. She was the president of the Estonian Chess Federation for eight years.

Early Life and Discovery
Carmen Kass was born in Paide, Estonia. She grew up in the nearby village of Mäo with her mother, older sister, and older brother. Her father was a chess teacher.
When Carmen was 14, a model scout from Milan, Italy, noticed her in a supermarket. A model scout is someone who looks for new people to become models. Her first trip to Milan to try modeling didn't work out, so she went back home.

At 18, Carmen moved to Paris, France, to try modeling again. This time, she became very successful. She appeared on the covers of famous magazines like Vogue, Elle, and Madame Figaro. Her first Vogue cover was for the French edition in 1997.
By 1999, she was one of the most popular models in the world. She walked in fashion shows for top designers like Marc Jacobs, Michael Kors, and Calvin Klein. She also appeared in advertisements for many famous brands, such as Chanel, Versace, and Givenchy.
For 17 years, she was the face of the For Her perfume by Narciso Rodriguez. She was also a spokesperson for Revlon makeup and the Christian Dior perfume, J'adore.

In 2000, Carmen was named "Model of the Year" at the VH1/Vogue Fashion Awards. By 2002, she was thought to be the second-highest-paid model in the world. She is known in the fashion industry for her unique and powerful walk on the runway.
