Carolina Telechea i Lozano, born on August 9, 1981, is a lawyer and politician from Catalonia, Spain. She is a member of the Congress of Deputies of Spain, which is like the main parliament where laws are made for the country.

Carolina Telechea's Early Life

Carolina Telechea was born in Igualada, Catalonia. Her family has roots from different parts of Spain, like Andalusia, Extremadura, and the Basque Country. Her parents worked in the textile industry. Later, in the 1990s, her father started a computer company. Carolina also has two younger twin sisters.

She studied law at the University of Barcelona. After that, she got a special degree in legal practice from the Barcelona Bar Association. This helped her become a practicing lawyer.

Her family had a history in politics. They supported a political idea called federalism. This idea suggests that different regions of a country should have more power to govern themselves. Her father was a local politician in the 1980s. Carolina was also part of a socialist youth group for six years. However, she left in 2010 because she felt the socialist party was not focusing enough on federalism.

Becoming a Lawyer and Politician

Carolina Telechea has been working as a lawyer since 2006. She specializes in criminal law, which deals with laws about crimes. At one point, she faced a workplace challenge. This led her to decide to start her own law firm in 2011.

In 2015, a political party called the Republican Left of Catalonia (ERC) asked her to run in local elections. This party supports Catalan nationalism, which is the idea that Catalonia should have more self-governance or even become an independent country. She ran for a position on the Igualada Municipal Council and was elected. This meant she helped make decisions for her local town.

Her Political Journey in Spain

In 2016, Carolina Telechea ran for a seat in the Congress of Deputies in Spain. This is the national parliament. She was on the list of candidates for the Republican Left of Catalonia–Catalonia Yes alliance. She did not get elected at first.

However, in June 2018, she became a member of the Congress of Deputies. This happened when another politician, Ester Capella, resigned. Carolina Telechea was then re-elected in both the April 2019 and November 2019 general elections. This shows that people continued to support her work as a politician.

Outside of Politics

Carolina Telechea is married to a police officer. They have a son named Jules.
