The Cars soundtrack is the music album for the popular 2006 Disney-Pixar animated movie, Cars. It was released by Walt Disney Records on June 6, 2006. This was just three days before the movie came out in theaters!

The album features a mix of songs. Nine of the songs are by famous artists of the time. These songs include different styles like pop, blues, country, and rock. The other eleven pieces are special music created just for the movie. These were composed and conducted by the talented Randy Newman.

How well did the soundtrack do?

The Cars soundtrack became very popular. On November 25, 2006, it jumped up the Billboard 200 list. It went from #126 all the way to #47! This happened because lots of people bought it during the holiday season. Also, the Cars movie had just been released on DVD.

This soundtrack was the first one from Pixar to earn a Gold award in the United States. This means it sold over 500,000 copies! Later, it even became Platinum. That means it sold over 1 million copies in the U.S. It reached #6 on the main Billboard 200 chart and #2 on the Billboard Soundtrack Albums chart.
