Cashis's Music Journey
Starting Out: 1996–2006
Cashis started rapping when he was just 12 years old, freestyling with his cousin. Freestyling means making up rhymes on the spot. When he was 14, he went to a music studio for the first time and recorded his very first song. Around age 17, he became serious about rapping. He would go to different places in Los Angeles and Orange County to take part in rap battles. In these battles, rappers compete by showing off their rhyming skills. He used the name "Lil Ramone" back then.
By 2004, Cashis was known as the "rap king of Orange County." This caught the attention of Dart Parker, who worked for Shady Records. Dart Parker signed Cashis after hearing his mixtape called Stars With Stripes. People first got to know Cashis in 2006. He appeared with Eminem, 50 Cent, and Lloyd Banks on the song "You Don't Know". This was the first song from the very popular Shady Records album, Eminem Presents: The Re-Up. Cashis also performed on his own songs on the album, "Everything Is Shady" and "Talkin' All That".
First Solo Albums: 2007–2012
Cashis's first solo music release with Shady Records was The County Hound EP. An EP is a short album, and this one had eight songs. It came out on May 22, 2007. The County Hound EP reached number 106 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Most of the songs on the album were produced by Eminem, who was also the only other artist featured on the project.
After this EP, Cashis announced that his first full-length album would be called Loose Cannon. He said it would feature music produced by famous artists like Eminem, Sha Money XL, Dr. Dre, and The Alchemist. He planned to release it in late 2007.
However, the album was delayed. Cashis later asked to leave Shady Records, and this was finalized in 2012. He still worked with them as a songwriter. To promote his new music, Cashis released a mixtape called Church on the Move. His first full album, The Art of Dying, was released independently on October 30, 2012. It included other artists like Rick Ross, Game, and Royce da 5'9". Eminem also produced one song on the album called "You Think That I'm Crazy".
New Music: 2015–Present
In early 2015, Cashis released the cover art for his mixtape I'm Getten Mine, which was available for purchase soon after. On April 7, 2015, he released his fourth studio album, The County Hound 3. Three songs were released from this album to promote it. These included "A-Rod" with Emilio Rojas, "Work" with Young Buck, Project Pat & Sullee J, and "Kingpin" with Young Buck, Arez Cobain & June B. Cashis continued to release new music, including CH4 in 2019.
