These include Iris Moss in the BBC drama Lilies (2007) and Karen Norris in the BBC comedy Scarborough (2019). Many people also know her as Eva Price from the ITV soap opera Coronation Street, where she starred from 2011 to 2018. In 2019, she also competed on the TV dance show Strictly Come Dancing.

Early life

Catherine Mary Ann Tyldesley was born on 17 September 1983. Her hometown is Walkden in Greater Manchester, England. She went to St. George's RC High School and then Pendleton College. After that, she studied acting at the Birmingham School of Acting. She finished her training there in 2005.

Career

Catherine Tyldesley has appeared in many television shows. Some of her early roles were in Holby City, Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, and Shameless. In 2007, she played the main character, Iris Moss, in the BBC drama Lilies, which was set in Liverpool. She also appeared in a comedy TV pilot called Guantanamo Phil in 2009.

In 2010, Tyldesley played the role of Abi Peterson in the soap opera Emmerdale for two months. Besides acting, Catherine is also a singer. She has also worked as a model for the department store House of Fraser.

Her time on Coronation Street

Catherine Tyldesley first appeared on Coronation Street in 2006 as a midwife. In May 2011, she was chosen for a regular role as Eva Price. She started filming her scenes that same month. Tyldesley said she felt "incredibly lucky" to get the part because many people wanted the role. She also felt "nervous" when she first started filming, especially in the famous Rovers pub set. She was very excited to be part of such a well-known show.

Producers were very impressed with her acting. They decided to keep her on the show as a permanent cast member. She signed a new contract, and it was announced that her character, Eva, would have some exciting storylines. In 2012, Tyldesley shared that she hoped to stay on the show for a long time. She said she had always wanted to be in Coronation Street.

Eva was described as a "feisty" character. Tyldesley explained that Eva was a bit of a "princess" who had been spoiled. This made her a bit demanding and a "drama queen" who liked to get her own way. However, Tyldesley also said that Eva had a softer side that viewers would see later.

In December 2017, Catherine Tyldesley announced she would be leaving the show. Her last scenes as Eva Price aired on 3 August 2018.

Other work

In 2016, Catherine Tyldesley released her first music album, which was called Rise.

In 2019, she joined the cast of Strictly Come Dancing, a popular TV show where celebrities learn to dance with professional partners. She was partnered with Johannes Radebe. They were the fifth couple to be eliminated from the competition. In the same year, she also starred as Karen Norris in the BBC comedy series Scarborough.

In 2022, Tyldesley appeared in an episode of the detective show McDonald and Dodds. In 2023, she began starring in the TV series The Good Ship Murder.

Personal life

Catherine Tyldesley's second cousin is Michael Vaughan, who used to be the captain of the England cricket team.

In August 2014, Tyldesley announced that she and her partner, Tom Pitfield, were going to have their first child. On 30 August 2014, she shared on Twitter that she and Tom were engaged to be married. Their son, Alfie James, was born on 18 March 2015. Catherine and Tom got married on 21 May 2016. In October 2021, they announced they were expecting their second child. Their daughter, Iris Ella, was born on 19 April 2022.

A misunderstanding about a cake

In August 2023, Catherine Tyldesley spoke on Instagram about a misunderstanding. This was about cakes for her 40th birthday party. A party planner, working for her, had asked a bakery owner named Rebecca Severs to make two large cakes and 100 cupcakes. The planner suggested that the bakery would get publicity in return for the cakes.

The bakery owner, Rebecca Severs, shared her reply on Facebook. She explained that her business needed to be paid with money, not just promotion. Tyldesley later said she did not know these emails were being sent. She explained that the event company involved was "amazing" and had helped her before. She felt they were misunderstood in this situation.
