Catherine Mary Inglese (born December 16, 1958 – died July 24, 2019) was an American college basketball coach. She led women's basketball teams for 27 years. Her coaching career included time at the University of Vermont, Boston College, and the University of Rhode Island.

Cathy Inglese's Coaching Journey
Cathy Inglese started her college coaching career in 1983. She became an assistant basketball coach at the University of New Hampshire. She held this role for three years.
Leading the Vermont Catamounts
In 1986, Inglese became the head coach for the Vermont Catamounts women's basketball team. She coached them for seven seasons. Her teams had an amazing winning streak. They won 57 games in a row over two seasons! This included perfect seasons of 29–0 in 1992 and 28–0 in 1993. Overall, her record at Vermont was 120 wins and 74 losses.
Coaching at Boston College
From 1993 to 2008, Inglese was the head women's basketball coach at Boston College. During her 15 seasons there, her teams had eight seasons with 20 or more wins. They also made it to the NCAA tournament seven times. Three times, they reached the "Sweet 16," which means they were among the top 16 teams in the country.
In 2004, the Boston College Eagles won a school record 27 games. They also won their first-ever Big East championship. In the 2006 NCAA tournament, her team even beat the top-ranked Ohio State team. Inglese left her position at Boston College in April 2008. Her total record at Boston College was 273 wins and 129 losses.
Time at Rhode Island and Fairleigh Dickinson
In April 2009, Inglese became the head coach for the Rhode Island Rams women's basketball team. She coached them for five seasons. In March 2014, her contract was not renewed. Later, Inglese worked at Fairleigh Dickinson University for two seasons. In June 2019, she was hired as an assistant coach at Hofstra University.

Cathy Inglese also helped coach the USA women's basketball team. This was at the World University Games, also called the Universiade. These games took place in Izmir, Turkey in August 2005.
The US team played their first game against the Czech Republic and won by 88–64. This 24-point win was the closest any team came to beating the US. They then defeated South Africa, China, and Poland. This helped them move on to the quarterfinals. Next, they beat Chinese Taipei and Russia by more than 50 points each. This led them to the championship game against Serbia & Montenegro. The US team won the championship 79–63. They finished with a perfect 7–0 record and won the gold medal!

About Cathy Inglese's Life
Cathy Inglese graduated with high honors from Southern Connecticut State University in 1980. She later earned a master's degree in counseling from the University of New Hampshire in 1987.
She was honored by being inducted into several halls of fame. These included the halls of fame at Southern Connecticut State University, the University of Vermont, and Boston College.
Cathy Inglese passed away on July 24, 2019, at the age of 60. She had an accident a week earlier.
