Cave Run Lake is a large, beautiful lake located in eastern Kentucky, USA. It's found south of Morehead, Kentucky. This huge lake covers about 8,270-acre (33 km2) of land.
It's not a natural lake, but a reservoir. This means it was created by building a dam. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers built the dam between 1965 and 1973. The dam is 148 feet (45 meters) tall and about half a mile (800 meters) long!
Cave Run Lake is a very important place. It helps protect the Licking River valley from floods. It also provides drinking water for nearby towns. The lake helps keep the Licking River flowing well. Plus, it's a home for many different kinds of fish and wildlife. You can find this lake in Rowan, Morgan, Menifee, and Bath counties. It's also part of the northern Daniel Boone National Forest.
