Celtic Sea facts for kids
The Celtic Sea is a part of the Atlantic Ocean. It is located off the southern coast of Ireland. This sea gets its name from the Celts, an ancient group of people who lived in this area.
To the east of the Celtic Sea, you will find several important waterways. These include the Saint George's Channel, the Bristol Channel, the English Channel, and the Bay of Biscay. The sea also touches the coasts of Wales, Cornwall, Devon, and Brittany (which is in France). The southern and western edges of the Celtic Sea are defined by the continental shelf. This is the underwater land that extends from the continents.
