History of Centerville
The area where Centerville is located got its first post office in 1846. Back then, it was called Centreville. In 1892, the name was changed to Centerville. The city was named Centerville because it is in a central spot within Reynolds County.

The West Fork Lead Mine
Near Centerville, you'll find the West Fork Mine. This mine produces important metals like lead, zinc, silver, and copper. It started operating fully in 1988.
Today, the mine is owned and run by the Doe Run Company. Each year, the West Fork Mine produces a lot of lead, zinc, and silver. For example, it produces about 46,000 tons of lead every year.
