Cerro Gordo is a small community, also known as a barrio, located in the town of Añasco, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 497 people lived there. It's a quiet place in the western part of Puerto Rico.

History of Cerro Gordo
How Cerro Gordo Became Part of the U.S.
After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a special agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a territory of the United States.
Early Population Count
In 1899, the United States government did a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. They found that Cerro Gordo, along with a nearby area called Corcovada, had a combined population of 1,159 people.
