Chan-Hae Lee (born October 8, 1945) is a talented South Korean composer and music teacher. She has created many musical pieces and taught music to students for many years.
Her Musical Journey
Chan-Hae Lee was born in Seoul, Korea. She began her musical studies at Yonsei University in Seoul. There, she focused on learning how to compose music. Her teachers included Jae-Yul Park and Un-Young La.
Later, she traveled to the United States to continue her education. She studied at Catholic University in Washington, D.C.. Here, she learned from composers like George T. Jones and Conrad Bernier. She earned both a master's degree (MA) and a doctorate (PhD).
Chan-Hae Lee also explored different ways of teaching music. In 1989, she went to Hungary to study the Kodály method. This is a special way of teaching music that focuses on singing and folk songs. She also spent time as a visiting scholar at Oakland University and the famous Paris Conservatory in France.
After finishing her studies, Chan-Hae Lee began teaching. In 1977, she became a professor of composition at Yonsei University. She also taught as a visiting professor at Wayne State University. Her hard work and talent have been recognized. She received The National Composition Prize of Korea. Her musical works have been performed and enjoyed by people all over the world.
