Charles Drake (born Charles Ruppert) was an American actor. He was born on October 2, 1917, and passed away on September 10, 1994. He starred in many movies and TV shows during his career.

About Charles Drake
Charles Drake was born in New York City. He went to Nichols College. After college, he worked as a salesman. In 1939, he decided to become an actor. He signed a contract with Warner Bros., a big movie studio.
Drake also served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he returned to Hollywood in 1945. He got a role in the movie Conflict. This film starred the famous actor Humphrey Bogart. After his contract with Warner Brothers ended, he worked on other projects. One of these was A Night in Casablanca (1946).
Working with Big Stars
In 1949, Drake moved to another studio, Universal Studios. There, he acted alongside famous actors like James Stewart and Shelley Winters. He was in the movie Winchester '73 (1950). He also worked with James Stewart again in Harvey (1950). This movie was based on a popular play.
Drake also appeared in To Hell and Back (1955). This movie was about the real-life war hero Audie Murphy. Drake played Murphy's close friend, "Brandon."
Television Roles
In 1955, Charles Drake started working in television. He was part of the cast for Montgomery's Summer Stock. From 1957, he hosted a TV show about spies called Schilling Playhouse. It was also known as Rendezvous. In 1956, he acted with Audie Murphy and Anne Bancroft in Walk the Proud Land.
In 1959, Drake worked with Audie Murphy again. They were in the Western film No Name on the Bullet. In this movie, Murphy played a rare villain role. Drake played a small-town doctor trying to stop him.
Drake also appeared in many popular TV Westerns. He was in an episode of NBC's Laramie in 1961. He also appeared in Wagon Train in 1963.
Later Career and Other Genres
Drake played Oliver Greer in The Fugitive in 1967. He was also a guest star in Daniel Boone (1968–1969). In 1969, he appeared on The Virginian. He was also in "The Men From Shiloh" in 1970.
Charles Drake acted in 83 films between 1939 and 1975. Most of his roles were in dramas. But he also acted in comedies, science fiction, horror, and film noir movies. He even appeared in an episode of the original Star Trek series. In the episode "The Deadly Years" (1967), he played Commodore Stocker.
Charles Drake passed away on September 10, 1994. He was 76 years old. He died in East Lyme, Connecticut.
