Chatsworth is about 7.5 kilometers (4.7 miles) from Gympie, Queensland. It is located to the north-northwest of Gympie.
A big part of Chatsworth's southwest is covered by Fishermans Pocket State Forest. This means there are lots of natural areas and trees.
Chatsworth's Past: A Look Back
Long ago, Chatsworth was mainly a place for dairy farms. Farmers raised cows for milk. Today, most of the land is used for homes. The area was once part of the Shire of Cooloola. This was a local government area that no longer exists.
Early Churches in Chatsworth
Several churches opened in Chatsworth many years ago.
- The Chatsworth Wesleyan Methodist Church opened on August 16, 1885. It was on Chatsworth Road, which is now the Bruce Highway. In 1937, this church building moved to a new spot. It was relocated near the South Side State School.
- St Jude's Anglican Church also opened in Chatsworth on October 11, 1885.
- The Chatsworth Baptist Church opened on August 17, 1918.
Chatsworth School's Beginning
Chatsworth Provisional School first opened its doors on April 18, 1900. A few years later, on January 1, 1909, it became Chatsworth State School.
