The checker-throated antwren (Epinecrophylla fulviventris) is a small bird from the antbird family. People also call it the fulvous-bellied antwren or checker-throated stipplethroat.
This bird gets its name because the male birds have a special pattern on their throats. It looks like a black and white "checkerboard."
About the Checker-throated Antwren
The checker-throated antwren is the only bird in its group (called a genus) that lives west of the Andes mountains. These birds can be found in several countries.
Where it Lives
You can find the checker-throated antwren in Honduras. Its home stretches south through northern Colombia. It also lives in western Ecuador.
