Early Life

Cheri Oteri was born in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. Her father was Gaetano Thomas Oteri, and she has Italian family roots.

When Cheri was 25, she moved to Los Angeles. She worked at a music company called A&M Records for four years. Later, she joined a famous comedy group called The Groundlings. This group helps comedians learn and perform funny skits.

In 1995, the people who make Saturday Night Live (SNL) came to watch a show. They wanted to see another comedian, but Cheri performed a funny speech during a costume change. They liked her so much that they invited her to try out for SNL too! She joined the show in September 1995. It was a big change for SNL, as many new actors were hired at that time.
