Chester is a small town in Dodge County, Georgia, United States. In 2020, about 525 people lived there. Back in 2010, the population was 1,596. This big change happened because a large state prison was included within the town's boundaries for a while.

History of Chester
The town of Chester got its name from a place called Chester, New York. The government of Georgia officially made Chester a town in 1902. Its town limits stretched one mile in every direction from the local train station.

Chester is located in the northern part of Dodge County. You can find its exact spot using these coordinates: 32°23′42″N 83°9′13″W / 32.39500°N 83.15361°W.
Roads and Nearby Towns
Georgia State Route 126 goes through Chester and is known as Main Street. If you go west on this road, you'll reach Cochran in about 13 miles. Going southeast for 8 miles will take you to Cadwell.
Another road, Georgia State Route 257, also runs through Main Street in Chester. This road leads northeast about 7 miles to Dexter. If you go southwest for 9 miles, you'll arrive in Empire. The main city of Dodge County, Eastman, is about 15 miles south of Chester.
