Chinook is a small community called a hamlet in southern Alberta, Canada. It is part of Special Area No. 3, which is a special type of rural area in Alberta. You can find Chinook along Highway 9, about 119 kilometers (74 miles) northeast of a town called Brooks.
The name Chinook comes from the "Chinook wind." This is a warm, dry wind that blows from the Rocky Mountains.
