Chittar is a village located in the Pathanamthitta district of Kerala state, India. It is part of the Ranni Taluk, which is a type of administrative division. Chittar is special because it received the Nirmal Gram award from Pratibha Patil, who was the President of India at the time. This award recognizes villages that have good sanitation and hygiene.

Chittar is a place where many farms and plantations are found. People here grow different crops like rubber, pineapple, tapioca (a root vegetable), various nuts, ginger, and pepper. Long ago, Chittar was also part of a busy trading center called Nilakkal.
