Chayalppadi Church
The St. Thomas Chayalpadi Malankara Catholic Church has an interesting history. In 1972, a monk named Fr. Nadamala Philipose came to Angamoozhy. At that time, it was an undeveloped area between two important pilgrim centers: Sabarimala (Hindu) and Nilackal (Christian).
Fr. Nadamala wanted to help renew the Nilackal church, which is believed to be one of the seven churches started by St. Thomas. He lived in a simple hut in this forest area, which was home to many wild animals. Local people, including Hindus, Christians, and Muslims, worked together to build a hut for him. He named his hut 'Chayalpadi', which means 'entrance to Nilakkal'. Besides his religious work, he also helped with the social development of the area.
