Playing for Clubs
Choi Jin-cheul spent his entire professional playing career with just one club: Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in the K League. He played a huge number of games for them, showing great loyalty and skill. He was a very strong centre-back, excellent at winning the ball in the air and in tough challenges.
Interestingly, Choi started as a forward when he was in school. For a couple of years in 1998 and 1999, he even played as a striker for Jeonbuk. During this time, he scored 17 goals and made 8 assists, even getting a hat-trick in one game!
In 2006, his team, Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, won the AFC Champions League, which is a very important tournament for Asian clubs. Choi was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament for his amazing performance.
Playing for His Country
Choi Jin-cheul was a very important centre-back for the South Korea national football team. He played 65 matches for his country. This included playing in two FIFA World Cup tournaments: in 2002 and 2006.
During the 2002 World Cup, he was part of a super strong defense alongside other famous players like Hong Myung-bo and Kim Tae-young. Their strong defense helped South Korea achieve great success in that tournament.

In November 2021, Choi Jin-cheul signed with DH Entertainment. This means he started working in the entertainment industry.
