Choi Sung-yong (Hangul: 최성용) is a famous former football player from South Korea. He was born on December 25, 1975. He played as a wing-back or midfielder, which are important positions on a football team. A wing-back plays on the side of the field, helping both in defense and attack. A midfielder plays in the middle, connecting defense and offense.

Choi was known for his great energy and focus during games. He was especially good at marking, which means closely guarding an opponent player to stop them from scoring. He famously marked Hidetoshi Nakata, who was considered the best Asian player at the time, when South Korea played against Japan.

Choi played for the South Korea national football team as a right-back in the 1998 FIFA World Cup. He was also chosen for the national team for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, which was held in South Korea and Japan. However, he did not play in any games during that tournament.
