Christian Bolaños Navarro, born on May 17, 1984, is a famous former football player from Costa Rica. He played as a right winger. He played for his country's national team, Costa Rica, starting in 2005. He played in more than 80 international games. He also played in three FIFA World Cups.
His brother Jonathan is also a footballer.

Christian Bolaños's Club Career
Christian Bolaños played for many different football clubs during his career. He played in Costa Rica, Denmark, Norway, Qatar, and Canada.
Playing for Deportivo Saprissa
Christian Bolaños started his professional career at Deportivo Saprissa in Costa Rica. With Saprissa, he won many national championships. He also won the UNCAF Cup and the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
In 2005, Bolaños and Saprissa played in the 2005 FIFA Club World Championship. FIFA, the world football organization, named him the third best player in that tournament. After this, he was invited to try out for the famous English club Liverpool. However, he did not sign with them.
In 2006, he almost joined Premier League team Charlton Athletic. But he could not get a work permit because he had not played enough games for his country. So, the deal did not happen.
Moving to OB in Denmark
On June 2, 2007, Bolaños signed a three-year contract with OB, a team in Denmark's top league. He worked hard to make an impact in the strong Danish midfield.
Time with IK Start in Norway
On November 6, 2008, Bolaños signed with Start, a team in Norway. He started playing for them on January 1, 2009.
In his first practice game against a top Norwegian team, Bolaños played very well. He was praised by the media. The coach of Start said he would play on the right wing. In his first official game for Start, Bolaños scored two goals.
Joining FC Copenhagen
On August 30, 2010, Bolaños signed a three-year contract with FC Copenhagen, the champions of Denmark. The team paid about €1 million for him.
Short Stays at Cartaginés and Al Gharafa
In September 2014, Bolaños signed with Cartaginés in Costa Rica. He then moved to Al Gharafa in Qatar after the winter championship.
Playing for Vancouver Whitecaps FC
On January 20, 2016, Bolaños signed a contract with Vancouver Whitecaps FC. This team plays in Major League Soccer (MLS) in North America.
Returning to Saprissa
After two years with Vancouver, Bolaños returned to his former club, Saprissa, in 2018. He continued to play for them until 2020. He then had another short period with IK Start before returning to Saprissa for a final time from 2021 to 2023.

Christian Bolaños also had a great career playing for his country, Costa Rica.
Youth National Team
He played in the 2001 FIFA U-17 World Championship. This tournament was held in Trinidad and Tobago.
Senior National Team
Bolaños made his first appearance for the Costa Rica senior national team in May 2005. This was in a friendly game against Norway. By November 2016, he had played 71 games for his country and scored 6 goals.
He played in 25 FIFA World Cup qualification matches. He also represented Costa Rica in the 2006 FIFA World Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He played in the CONCACAF Gold Cup tournaments in 2005, 2007, and 2011.
In May 2018, he was chosen for Costa Rica's team for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. When he entered the first match against Serbia as a substitute, Bolaños made history. He became the only Costa Rican player to play in three different FIFA World Cups. He also played more World Cup matches than any other Costa Rican player at that time.
