Christie Downs is a suburb located in the southern part of Adelaide, South Australia. It's part of the City of Onkaparinga area. This suburb has its own special postcode, 5164.
It's surrounded by other suburbs. To the west, you'll find Christies Beach. To the south is Noarlunga Centre. If you head east, you'll reach Morphett Vale, and to the north is Lonsdale.

History of Christie Downs
How the Suburb Got Its Name
Christie Downs was named after an important person in its early days. His name was Lambert Christie. He was one of the very first European settlers to live in this area.
From Farms to Homes
For a long time, Christie Downs was mostly farmland. Farmers grew crops and raised animals here. But things started to change in the late 1950s.
At that time, a group called the South Australian Housing Trust bought large parts of the land. The Housing Trust helps build homes for people. They wanted to create new places for families to live.
Since then, Christie Downs has grown a lot. Today, there are almost 2,500 homes in the suburb. It has become a busy and friendly place for many families.
