Christopher Belcher, born on January 29, 1994, in Sayville, New York, is an amazing American track and field athlete. He is a professional sprinter who runs very fast in the 100 meters and 200 meters races.

During his college years, he ran for the Monroe Mustangs and later for the North Carolina A&T Aggies. Today, he is sponsored by the famous sports brand, Nike. In 2017, Christopher competed in the World Championships for the 100 meters. He made it all the way to the semi-finals! His fastest time ever in the 100 meters is 9.93 seconds. He achieved this incredible speed at the NCAA Division I Championships that same year.

Christopher Belcher's Story

Growing Up in Sayville

Christopher Belcher grew up in Sayville, New York. He went to Sayville High School. While in high school, he was a fantastic runner. He won the state championship in the 55-meter race. He was even ranked 8th in the whole country for that event!

He also won the 100-meter dash state championship during his junior year. Christopher showed his talent early on. He won the high school 55-meter dash at the 2013 Millrose Games. This is a very famous track and field event.

College Running Career

In 2013, Christopher started his college running journey at Monroe College. In his first year, he earned a bronze medal. He placed 3rd in the 100-meter race at the 2014 NJCAA Division I Championships.

Later, in 2016, Christopher moved to NCAA Division I school North Carolina A&T. Here, he became a champion! He won the 100-meter, 200-meter, and 4 × 100-meter relay races at the 2016 MEAC Championships. He even broke records in all three events. He then competed at the 2016 NCAA Division I Championships.

Christopher continued his success in 2017. He won the 100-meter and 200-meter titles again at the MEAC Championships. In the 100-meter finals, he broke his own record from the year before. He ran it in an amazing 10.04 seconds. He also helped his team win the 4 × 100-meter relay. They broke their own MEAC championship record too!

At the 2017 NCAA Division I Championships, Christopher ran incredibly fast. He ran the 100-meter race in 9.93 seconds. This was his personal best time. It was also the first time he ran under 10 seconds! He finished 3rd in the 100-meter race. He also placed 5th in the 200-meter race. His team finished 3rd in the 4 × 100-meter relay.

Becoming a Professional Athlete

After his amazing college career, Christopher decided to become a professional runner. He qualified for the 2017 USA Championships in the 100-meter race. This was his last race as an amateur.

He then signed a professional contract with Nike. This meant he would run for them as a professional athlete. In the finals of the 100-meter race, Christopher finished 3rd. He was behind famous sprinters Justin Gatlin and Christian Coleman. This great finish helped him qualify for the World Championships in London. He ran well in London, but did not make it past the semi-finals.

In 2019, Christopher won a gold medal at the World Relays in Japan. He was part of the 4×200-meter relay team. He also won a gold medal in the 4×100-meter relay at The Match Europe v USA in Belarus. He also earned a silver medal in the 100-meter race at the same event.
