Christopher Belcher is an American professional track and field sprinter. He was born on January 29, 1994, in Sayville, New York. Christopher is known for his speed in the 100 meters and 200 meters races.

He competed for the Monroe Mustangs and then the North Carolina A&T Aggies during his college years. Since 2017, he has been sponsored by Nike. In 2017, he ran in the World Championships for the 100 m race. He made it to the semi-finals. His fastest time in the 100 m is 9.93 seconds. He achieved this speed during the NCAA Division I Championships in 2017.

Christopher Belcher's Early Life and School Years

Growing Up in Sayville, New York

Christopher Belcher grew up in Sayville, New York. He went to Sayville High School. During his three years on the varsity team, he became a state champion. He won the 55 m race. He was also ranked 8th in the country for this event.

He also won the Division 1 100 m dash state championship. This happened during his junior year of high school. In 2013, Christopher also won the high school 55 m dash at the Millrose Games.

College Athletics and Achievements

In 2013, Christopher Belcher joined Monroe College. In his first year, he finished 3rd in the 100 m race. This was at the 2014 NJCAA Division I Championships. He was behind famous sprinters Odean Skeen and Andre De Grasse.

In 2016, Belcher moved to North Carolina A&T. This is a bigger NCAA Division I school. At A&T, he became a champion in three events. He won the 100 m, 200 m, and 4 × 100 m relay at the 2016 MEAC Championships. He even broke the meet records in all three races. He then competed at the 2016 NCAA Division I Championships in the 100 m. However, he did not make it to the finals that year.

After his successful year in 2016, Belcher continued to shine. He defended his 100 m and 200 m titles at the 2017 MEAC Championships. In the 100 m finals, he broke his own meet record from the previous year. He ran it in 10.04 seconds. Christopher and his teammates, Rodney Rowe, Caleb Gabriel, and Joel Thomas, won the 4 × 100 m relay again. They finished in 39.44 seconds. This also broke their own MEAC championship record.

During the semi-finals of the 2017 NCAA Division I Championships, Belcher ran incredibly fast. He broke the 10-second barrier for the first time. His personal best time was 9.93 seconds. He finished 3rd in the 100 m race. He also placed 5th in the 200 m and 3rd in the 4 × 100 m relay.

Becoming a Professional Sprinter

Christopher Belcher qualified for the 2017 USA Championships in the 100 m. He ran his last amateur race in the semi-finals of this event. He decided to become a professional athlete. He signed a contract with Nike.

In the finals of the 100 m, Belcher finished 3rd. He was behind Justin Gatlin and Christian Coleman. This result allowed him to qualify for the World Championships in London. In London, he passed the first rounds. However, he was not able to move past the semi-finals.
