The Chronicles of Narnia is a popular series of seven fantasy books. They were written by the British author C. S. Lewis. These books have sold over 100 million copies worldwide. They have also been translated into 41 different languages.

C.S. Lewis wrote the books between 1949 and 1954. Pauline Baynes drew the pictures for them. In 2005, the first book was made into a movie. The stories take readers to the magical land of Narnia.

Discovering the World of Narnia

The series tells amazing stories about children who visit the magical land of Narnia. Each book has its own exciting adventure. Here are the seven books in the series:

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

This book was finished in March 1949. It was published in London in October 1950. It introduces four ordinary children: Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie. They find a secret wardrobe in Professor Digory Kirke's house. This wardrobe leads them to Narnia.

The Pevensie children help Aslan, a wise talking lion. They work together to save Narnia from the evil White Witch. She has made Narnia suffer through a long, cold winter for 100 years. The children become kings and queens of Narnia. They start a special time known as the Golden Age.

Prince Caspian

This story happens 1300 years after The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Narnia is now ruled by the Telmarines, who are not kind people. The Pevensie children are called back to Narnia. Susan's special horn, blown by Prince Caspian, brings them there.

A big war takes place between the Telmarines and the Narnians. At the end of this book, Peter and Susan learn they cannot return to Narnia again. This book was published in 1951.

The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

In the third book, Lucy and Edmund go back to Narnia. Their cousin, Eustace, joins them. They travel on a ship called the Dawn Treader. Caspian, who is now King of Narnia, sails with them.

They are searching for seven lords. These lords were sent away from Narnia by Caspian's uncle, Miraz. This exciting adventure book was published in 1952.

The Silver Chair

Eustace returns to Narnia with his school friend, Jill. He finds King Caspian is now very old. Aslan gives Jill a special task. She must find Rillian, Caspian's son, who has been missing for many years.

A funny creature called a Marsh-Wiggle, named Puddleglum, travels with them. This book was published in 1953.

The Horse and His Boy

This story takes place during the time the Pevensie children rule Narnia. Shasta is a young boy living in a country called Calormen. He decides to run away when he learns he is not the son of Arsheesh.

He travels north to Narnia with a talking horse named Bree. A Calormene noblewoman, Aravis, and her talking horse, Hwin, join them. This book was published in 1954.

The Magician’s Nephew

This book tells the story of Narnia's beginning. It happens before all the other books. It is about a boy named Digory and his friend, Polly. They travel to Narnia because of experiments done by Digory's uncle, Andrew.

The book shows how Narnia was created. It also introduces the first King and Queen of Narnia. We also learn about the start of Jadis, who later becomes the White Witch. This book was published in 1954.

The Last Battle

This book was finished in spring 1953 and published in 1956. The Last Battle describes the very end of the world of Narnia. Jill and Eustace return to try and save Narnia.

An ape named Shift tricks a donkey named Puzzle. Puzzle pretends to be the lion, Aslan. The Pevensie children, except Susan, return. They, along with their parents and friends, join Aslan in a new, forever Narnia.
