About Chuckii Booker
Early Music Journey
Chuckii Booker started his music career in the late 1980s. He became known as an R&B artist and producer. His godfather, famous musician Barry White, helped him get started by signing him to his production company in 1984. Before his solo career, Chuckii played keyboards for three years with a band called Tease.
How He Got His Record Deal
Chuckii got his first record deal in a surprising way. He gave his demo tape to Gerald Albright's manager to show off his skills as a musician. However, he had forgotten that the other side of the tape had his own songs with his singing. Because of these songs, he was offered a recording contract with Atlantic Records.
Solo Albums and Hit Songs
Chuckii Booker signed with Atlantic Records and released his first album, Chuckii, in 1989. On this album, he played all the instruments and sang all the vocals himself. The album did very well, with popular songs like "(Don't U Know) I Love U" and "Turned Away," which became a number one R&B hit.
His next album, Niice 'N Wiild, came out in 1992. This album also had a chart-topping R&B hit called "Games". After releasing Niice 'N Wiild, Chuckii Booker decided to stop recording his own music.
Working Behind the Scenes
Even after he stopped recording his own albums, Chuckii Booker continued to work in music as a producer for many other artists. He helped Troop create two number one songs: "All I Do Is Think of You" and "Spread My Wings". He also produced music for his godfather Barry White, Janet Jackson, Vanessa Williams, Kool & the Gang, and many others.
Chuckii was also the musical director, producer, and keyboardist for Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation World Tour. He even performed as the opening act for her shows. Janet Jackson asked him to join her tour after he attended the premiere of her music video Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation 1814.
Chuckii Booker has produced records for a wide range of artists. These include Lalah Hathaway, En Vogue, Angela Winbush, Diana Ross, Anastacia, Rihanna, Lionel Richie, Stevie Wonder, and Bette Midler.
