Chuck Chijindu's Soccer Journey
Early Soccer Days
Chuck Chijindu grew up in Fontana, California. He went to Damien High School in La Verne, California. He was a very good player from his first year. He led his team in scoring during his junior and senior years. He was also named the team's Most Valuable Player (MVP) twice.
After high school, Chuck played college soccer at the University of Connecticut. He helped his team win several Big East titles. He was also recognized for his great play in the conference. Chuck was the top scorer for his team in his freshman, sophomore, and senior years. He finished his college career with 26 goals and 19 assists in 86 games.
Becoming a Pro Player
After college, Chuck was invited to try out for Chivas USA, a professional soccer team. He played well and was offered a contract. On April 5, 2009, he officially signed with Chivas USA.
Just a few days later, on April 11, 2009, Chuck made his first professional appearance. This was in a game against the Los Angeles Galaxy. A week later, on April 18, 2009, he scored his very first professional goal. This goal was against Seattle Sounders FC.
Playing for Different Teams
In 2010, Chivas USA sent Chuck on loan to Miami FC. This meant he played for Miami FC for a short time. He then returned to Chivas USA.
In 2011, Chivas USA sent him on another loan. This time, he played for the Los Angeles Blues. He helped the Blues reach the playoffs in their first year as a professional club.
After his loan with the LA Blues ended, Chuck became a free agent. This means he could sign with any team he wanted. In April 2012, he signed with the Wilmington Hammerheads.
Adventures in Iceland
After a short time with Wilmington, Chuck left to play in Iceland. He joined an Icelandic club called Thor. He played very well for Thor.
During the 2013 season, Chuck scored 10 goals for Thor. This made him the team's top scorer and fifth in the league. He played for Thor for almost three seasons. He appeared in 38 games and scored 15 league goals. He left the club in December 2014.
In July 2015, Chuck returned to Icelandic football. He joined Keflavík. He played in 8 matches for the team that season.
