The Church of St Martin in North Perrott, Somerset, England, is a very old building. It was built way back in the 12th century! This church is so important that it's been given a special status called a Grade I listed building. This means it's a really important historical site that needs to be protected.

History of the Church

The church building you see today is near the River Parrett. It was built on the spot where an even older church once stood. Some parts of the original church were used in the new building. The current church was likely built in the 16th century. A person named Henry Daubeney, 1st Earl of Bridgewater probably helped with its construction.

The Church Tower and Bells

The tower of the Church of St Martin is also very old, dating back to the 12th century. Inside the tower, there are six bells. The oldest bell was made in 1786 by George Davis in Bridgwater. Four other bells were crafted by members of the Bilbie family in 1803. These bells have been ringing for a very long time!

Church Community

The Church of St Martin is part of a larger group of churches. This group is called the Wulfric benefice. It belongs to the Crewkerne and Ilminster deanery. This means it's connected to other churches in the area.
