Chuy Bravo (born Jesús Melgoza) was a fun Mexican-American actor and entertainer. He was born on December 7, 1956, and passed away on December 14, 2019. Many people knew him as the funny sidekick on the TV talk show Chelsea Lately. He worked with host Chelsea Handler from 2007 to 2014. Chuy often made people laugh and was a big part of the show's humor.

Chuy Bravo's Early Life and Dreams
Chuy Bravo was born in Tangancícuaro, Michoacán, Mexico. He was the youngest of seven children in his family. Chuy became interested in acting when the movie Three Amigos was filmed in his village.
When he was fifteen, Chuy moved with his family to the San Fernando Valley in the United States. It was a bit hard for him to fit in and find work at first. After finishing school at Sylmar High School, he worked assembling computer parts. He also started his own cleaning business.
Chuy really wanted to be an actor. He took acting classes for two years to learn more. Then he found an agent and started trying out for roles. His first movie role was in Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002), but his scene was not included in the final movie.

Chuy Bravo started acting in the early 1990s. He appeared in several movies. These included Tiptoes (2003) with Matthew McConaughey. He also appeared in The Rundown (2003) with The Rock.

Chuy met Chelsea Handler through a director friend. The director told Chuy that Chelsea was looking for a "little person" for her show. They quickly became friends and started working together.
Chuy Bravo was on every single episode of Chelsea Lately. This popular talk show ran from 2007 until it ended in 2014. Chuy also appeared in a funny show about what happens behind the scenes, called After Lately. That show was on TV from 2011 to 2013.
After Chelsea Lately
After Chelsea Lately finished in 2014, Chuy continued acting. He appeared in The ... Trip (2016) and Buscando Nirvana (2017). He was also in a short film called The One II - Resurrection of the Vampires (2015). His last movie role was in a follow-up film, The One: Horror – Cupido, Divinitas (2017).
Chuy Bravo on Splash
In 2013, Chuy Bravo joined a TV show called Splash on ABC. This show was a reality competition where celebrities learned to dive. Sadly, before the first round, Chuy had an accident. He broke his heel and had to leave the competition.
Chuy was very sad about his injury. He said he wanted to show everyone that he was not lazy. He hoped to return for a second season of Splash, but the show was not renewed.
