FMC Tower: A Tall Building in University City
The FMC Tower is a huge building with 49 floors. It is 861,000 square feet in size. This tower is a "mixed-use" building. This means it has different types of spaces inside. It has a lot of office space. It also has 268 homes or apartments. Plus, there are shops on the ground floor.
The FMC Tower is the tallest building in University City. It is also the 7th tallest building in all of Philadelphia.
Who Uses the FMC Tower?
A big company called FMC Corporation uses a large part of the building. They even got the building named after them. This happened because they agreed to rent a lot of space for 16 years. The University of Pennsylvania also rents about 100,000 square feet of space.
Brandywine Realty Trust is the company that built the towers. They also moved their main office into the FMC Tower.
Building the FMC Tower
The land where the towers stand belongs to the University of Pennsylvania. They rent the land to Brandywine Realty Trust. The famous architect Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects designed the building. Construction on the FMC Tower started in 2014. The building was finished in late 2017.
